**Chessboard Setup** Students will learn how to set up the chessboard correctly, including understanding the layout of ranks, files, and squares. They will become familiar with the coordinates used in chess notation. **Introduction to Chess Pieces** Students will be introduced to the six different types of chess pieces: pawns, rooks, knights, bishops, queens, and kings. They will learn about each piece's unique movement and role in the game. **Understanding Pawns** This session focuses on the pawn's movement, including its ability to move forward, capture diagonally, and its special moves such as en passant and promotion. Students will practice pawn movements. **Understanding Rooks** Students will learn about the rook's ability to move vertically and horizontally across the board. They will practice using rooks to control files and ranks effectively. **Understanding Knights** The unique L-shaped movement of the knight will be explored in this session. Students will practice jumping over other pieces and learn how to leverage the knight's movement in games. **Understanding Bishops** This session will focus on the bishop's diagonal movement and its potential to control long diagonals. Students will practice positioning bishops strategically on the board. **Understanding Queens** The queen's versatility as the most powerful piece will be emphasized. Students will learn how to use the queen in both offense and defense, practicing its movements. **Understanding Kings** Students will learn about the king's movement and the importance of protecting it during the game. They will understand concepts of check and checkmate.
